The Road Home By Brother Tim Davis |

For Such A Time As This As we begin the first of what I hope will be many letters to our audience, I want to start out by telling you a few things about The Davis Family and why we do what we do. Keith and I were born into a devoutly Christian family. Our parents and all of our grandparents confessed Jesus as Lord of their lives. Our grandfather was a pastor and we grew up in his church. I can't remember a time when God and His Church were not a part of everyday life for us. As time went on Keith and I both made that critical step of making Jesus Lord of our lives. I don't mean to sound as if everything has always been perfect and we never did anything wrong. That would not be true at all. But it does not matter where you come from. We all need a Savior. We have had our shard of rough spots just like anyone else has. But growing up as we did gave us the knowledge that knowing Jesus can help get you through the roughest places. When I was 15 years old we began our journey into Southern Gospel music and ministry. I know some think of Southern Gospel music as just entertainment like any other style of music. We have always maintained that we are not there just to sing pretty and entertain but that there may be somebody in the audience that needs to be ministered to. I have to say that the world is a much different place that it was when we first started singing. And people need hope now more that ever. That is why more than ever it is important that we keep up the work started so long ago. About 3 years ago my niece Sondi Davis-Justice decided that it was time for her to join in the family ministry. We are so proud that she did. She is a wife and a mother to two wonderful little boys who are jut like we were when we were growing up. They are watching all of us and what we do with our lives. Just like every person born to earth, they need us to show them the way to eternal life that is found in Jesus and that the way to a happy fulfilled life is to do what God desires from you with all your heart. We are putting out this new CD with the same hopes and expectations that any other gospel group would have. But number one on the list is the hope that these songs will make a positive impact on someone's life. As Philippians 3:14 says, we are "Pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." We do a weekly program on a local cable station here in Georgia called "The Road Home" (thus the title of the article). But none of this is for our glory. If it is then it means nothing. One day we will stand before the Lord and I hope He will be able to say well done! It would take a lot of time to tell you everything we would like to say but maybe this gives you a little idea of where we are coming from. We believe that God opens new doors to His people in His time and in His own way. Pray for The Davis Family that He will anoint us with His Spirit in this hour for such a time as this.
Yours In Christ, Tim |
